Inspired by a man's journey into space, Philip Sparke has written this film score-like piece as an homage to such composers as Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams, whose influence can be clearly heard. This short piece will appeal to younger, less experienced bands who will enjoy tackling this work and will be able to make it sound good in a performance situation.

This stately work by Dutch composer Jan de Haan will serve well as a restful time-out during any concert, or as music for any solemn occasion. The melancholic themes appear in both major and minor keys and slowly build to a brilliant finale. This is an ideal composition to add a touch of stately grandeur to any concert.

Invictus was commissioned by and for the United States Army Ground Forces Band, Major Otis C. French, Commander and Conductor, and is dedicated to various units of the Forces Command, including the Active Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Combat Forces, Combat Support Forces, Combat Service Support Forces and the Civilian Forces. Passionate and turbulent, but also powerful and victorious!
