Ensemble

This wonderful standard is always a joy to perform, and here's a medium tempo chart that really makes it swing. Also included is a solo for any sax, and some nice full ensemble writing.

Here is one of those standards that continues to sound fresh every time it's played. This nice and easy swing version by Mark Taylor is written in a Basie style and features wonderful ensemble scoring, solos for alto and trumpet, and a short sax soli.

Trombones front and center on this one! Recorded by the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra on Absolutely, here is a fabulous chart that features a relaxed two feel in the beginning, then gradually gathers steam all the way to the end. A great feature number for the entire trombone section - however, the full ensemble gets a chance to open up as well.

Featuring a small combo of 3 saxes, trumpet and trombone interspersed with solid hits from the full ensemble, this medium swinger is a great showcase for contest or festival. Includes solos for alto sax and trumpet.

Young Jazz Ensemble - Grade 3 From the hit movie Moulin Rouge, this moving ballad provides a nice way to feature several sections of the ensemble in a well-paced arrangement. The tender opening with piano and flugels (opt. trumpets) leads to an alto sax solo on the verse. The full ensemble builds to the emotional peak before the chart winds down to a quiet close with brief written solos for piano and alto sax. Nicely done.

One of the best known Latin tunes around. Jerry's arrangement features nice section writing and short solos for Drums. The bridge is handled nicely using the sax section trading off with the brass.

The trombone section takes the spotlight in this smooth arrangement of Jobim's well-known standard. There are solo sections for alto sax and piano with creatively written accompaniment figures. The powerful ending section begins with a striking full band unison and drives to the end. Great production number for mature groups.
