The programmatic composition Of Castles and Legends is based on the German legend of a white maiden who lived in the small city of Volkmarsen. It tells the tale of invading evil knights who kidnap the beautiful maiden, who through sheer panic commands her spirit into the hands of God, jumping into an abyss from the highest tower of the castle where she is being held. From that day onward the maiden appears from time to time in shiny white garments, a sign of eternal heavenly joy.
