Codon is a term used in the field of molecular genetics to describe the interaction between the three elements that are important for both the creation and the preservation of life. Kevin Houben uses this term as a metaphor for the interaction between the conductor, the musicians and the committee of a concert band. They all have the same goal, to preserve the life of the band. This work consists of three movements, symbolising birth, life and death - either of a human being or a band. From the foundation of a band over good and bad times up to the optimistic future, this work will appeal to the soul of every band member in the world!

This festive composition, a traditional Spanish paso doble, has been dedicated to Consuelo Ciscar, a true devotee of the Valencian culture. The music paints a picture of her flamboyant Spanish personality through its colorful harmony and orchestration. This is a perfect piece to spice up any concert.

This fantastic new concert work by Otto M. Schwarz is based on the infamous taleof The Count of Monte Christo. Set in 1815 - a few days before Napoleon invaded France, the story is one of adventure on the high seas, spying, buried treasure and savage revenge. So many emotions in one fantastic concert work - this piece is sure to be a winner.

The energetic activities of three craftsmen at a local crafts market inspired the composer Christian Bouthier to write this work in three movements. The clockmaker gets many curious visitors at his stand. He patiently and proudly shows the precision work of his beautiful clocks and lets all of them tick the small ones and large ones. The cooper (barrel-maker) skillfully puts together fine-looking, sturdy barrels of the best types of wood. From afar, you can hear the cooper hammering. In the final movement, things are hectic at the blacksmith because the local horse-riding society has just arrived. Many horses are provided with new shoes. The experienced blacksmith hits the horseshoes into the proper shape on his anvil; now the horses can spiritedly trot and gallop on the way back. A fascinating new addition to the concert band repertoire.

The composer, Joseph Hellmesberger, lived in the second half of the 19th century and composed light music and operetta. Included in his output were a variety of dances such as Danse Diabolique, an exciting piece with an energetic waltz at its heart. The use of the Phrygian mode (D-Eb-F-G-A-Bb-C) engenders a devil-like atmosphere and adds spice to the composition.
