Premiered by his own Carmel (IN) High School Band at the 2006 Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Richard Saucedo's stunningly beautiful hymn is a tribute to his alma mater (Indiana University) and dedicated to his former band director, Ray Cramer. Opening and closing with a haunting and chant-like flugelhorn solo, this work features rich harmonies, creative use of mixed meters, and chorale-like textures all combined in a marvelously effect setting. Written in 1987 as the accompaniment to New England Time Capsule, an Omnimax travelogue, and recently recorded by the Boston Pops, this three minute concert work adapts wonderfully for band.
