With a career spanning 4 decades, Frank Cofield was a key composer/arranger/editor during the formative years of Hal Leonard. His writing was always fresh and his orchestrational style allowed bands of all sizes to sound their best. Frank passed away in 2005. Here is one of his classic arrangements that works just as well today as when it was first published more than 20 years ago.

Commissioned by the Northeast Oklahoma Band Directors Association, this relatively brief yet energetic work certainly lives up to its title! Stretching harmonic boundaries and filled with rhythmic vitality, Richard uses sections of mixed meters and a variety of unique orchestrational effects to create a stunning concert opener. Dur: 3:50

The woodwinds and percussion receive the spotlight on this one, although there are interspersed sections for full band. A terrific change of pace from the usual holiday fare.
