Host a Creative Music Program at your school.

Creative Music for Schools can offer your school an excellent parent funded music program in which School Music fosters well-being.children are taught to play an instrument and learn to read music in a stimulating and familiar environment.

Creative Music for Schools currently conducts programs in over 100 Schools in Melbourne.

These programs are either during school hours, after school, or a combination of both. All administration is co-ordinated from our office in Hawthorn.

"The program is highly regarded by the school and the community. Instructors offer caring and encouraging tuition in small group situations."
Mr Terry Poulton, Principal Canterbury Primary School 1987-2008

In most of the host schools, we run our popular After School Music Program, where we offer instrumental tuition in small groups of two to five students. Keyboard and guitar are by far the most popular instruments, but we also offer recorder if this is not taught in school. Tuition in flute, clarinet saxophone violin percussion and singing is becoming increasingly popular and could be offered at your school.

We also run instrumental programs during school hours in some schools. These are usually specialised programs, such as tuition in woodwind, brass or stringed instruments. Often these are held in conjunction with a rehearsal for a school band. If you wish your school to form a band this can be arranged free of charge. We can even help you with fund raising!

Because of our excellent teacher resources, we are able to guarantee continuity of our programs as long as there is interest from the school.

Our fees are very reasonable. We keep them under the rate recommended by the Victorian Music Teachers Association. Parents are asked to pay by the term in advance, but can pay in instalments if they wish. We give discounts where members from the same family are involved in our Program and to financially disadvantaged families. We also charge a holding deposit which is refunded when the child leaves the program.

Children are grouped according to their choice of instrument and then age. Later, as the children advance, we group according to ability. We have a firm policy of encouraging children to progress at their own pace and to group them with others of similar ability. We do not hesitate to regroup as necessary.

Students are continually provided with goals toward which they can work and encouragement incentives. For example, two to four concerts are arranged each year for the children, progress reports are issued twice a year to parents and each child receives a certificate at the completion of each level of study.
